I won't have time to play this 5-minute product video in class; hope you will take time to watch it. There's useful mobile marketing content, although the point is that it's a marketing video. It came to me embedded in an email. It's also posted on YouTube and I'm sure its on their site. My only criticism of the execution is that I had to follow it to the original posting on Screenr to get an embed code.
This study from Marketing Charts reminded me to post the video. It is a blast from the past--the wired Internet--in which security of payments was a major concern in early years--and should still be watched closely!
A very interesting video. These are truly astounding numbers. When I was working as a media reporter in 2010, many in the Danish media industry predicted that the rise of the iPad and the app store would show a dramatic shift to utilization of apps for marketing.
ReplyDeleteMoreover, with the high smartphone penetration, most analysts saw apps as a natural extension of media consumptions and thus mobile marketing.
Based on that knowledge, partially, in a consulting proposal to a restaurant/night club, I suggested the use of apps to boost their marketing strategy. I am very surprised to see that 78% of smartphone users prefer a mobile ready site over apps (do those numbers include tablets?).
That is a key metric in my estimation, as mobile ready sites are more cost effective and are superb for landing pages and the integration of offline and online marketing.
It seems that mobile marketing signals a paradigm shift, or, at the very least, the continuation of the current paradigm shift in the way we market. However is the use of QR codes a critical component of that? It seems to be the new "force du jour" of marketing.
With all that said, I have wanted to ask you - what are your thoughts on QR Codes and their use in integrating your online marketing with your offline efforts?
