"Partners in Success"- this is going to be the new slogan for the company, announced the President.
I had been thinking it's a good slogan until my new baby knowledge of search marketing and Ad words completely shunned it down. In a snap shot, it said nothing about our identity, products, competitive edge... -that is in a Google searchable way!
And now, I felt like a slave to these search engines but I knew there was no escape- I had to play by the new rules of the game or my time investment in this course would be a precious waste of time.
First, I put myself in shoes of someone doing search; How can I get a distributor, wholesaler, customer to come to my website? OK so we are suppliers of products and operate in international markets, particularly Africa. How to create the billion hit slogan?and is it so important to have such a slogan?
Well, I had to entertain idea that a good slogan in a search marketing way was not a bad idea, given the number of times the slogan gets repeated again and again.
And that's when the fun really began and I started to experiment with different slogans:
Supplying products worldwide- 21 billion Google hits
vs. Supplying basic products worldwide- 417 billion Google hits
Supplying basic products all over the globe- 265 billion hits
Supplying basic products to international markets- 379 billion hits .....
Hold on does that mean worldwide is a better Ad word than globe and international markets?
Now I wanted to experiment with new adjectives: essential, basic, best products...
The more I used Google and toyed with potential Ad words, the more I realized that this is going to be a real challenge. But whatever happens, I know I will never see slogans in the same way again.
As for my new business partner- search marketing tops the list!
