...based on very vague terms...
...with very little oversight...
...and some powerful backers...
...and one very, very powerful critic. The President.
Unfortunately, this goes back to 2001 and the Patriot Act. I'm not aware that many law-abiding citizens have been harmed by the massive surveillance since 9/11; but the government has spent a ton of (untargeted) money. What's wrong with getting a warrant if a govt agency has a good reason to believe crimes are being planned???
