1800-flowers.com took the opportunity to learn more about what their customers want on facebook.
With that data, 1800-flowers.com created a "Make Moms Proud" photo contest on facebook that asks users to vote on user-submitted photos of consumers with their moms.
I think it is a creative way to engage with the customer and build more traffic for the site.

Hi Kesang, Just to let you know this is exactly what hip venues in, considered as hip and alternative, East London do to advertise their plays/shows. They involve the audience by introducing a picture contest at the very beginning of the show. Audience is, thereby, encouraged to take pictures and tweet them on the show website. These are saved there and can be viewed by new visitors checking out info/reviews on the show to help them to decide whether it's worth to buy a ticket. Thereby, such an approach works as mouth-to-mouth social media advertising and... it's free and highly reliable :)! Recently I attended a burlesque comedy show at Richmix which is one of these hip places in Shoreditch and we all indeed were encouraged to take romantic pictures with our significant others and tweet them to get a better chance of winning a bottle of Tequila at the end of the night. One thing about Richmix is that during the show the audience have an ongoing access to the bar which further looses the atmosphere and makes people even more willing to take such romantic pictures and share them on Twitter :). I agree that such an approach is creative. The only thing is that the audience need to take into consideration that once posted the pictures are becoming public being easily available to potential, future or existing, current employers :)!
